The First Annual Princess Ball

On February 11, 2012 you can take your Princess to a Dance at the Edgewater YMCA. This special event is being brought to you by the Edgewater Scholarship Fund. This fund was the brain child of Justin Kennedy, one of Edgewater's City Councilman. Citizens can add a small (or large) donation to their water bill and every penny goes into a scholarship fund for local students. This dance will benefit this fund...

There is a back story here that I would like to share with you. I consider Justin Kennedy's wife Susan to be among my closest friends. I was at their house the day that Justin was hatching this plan for a Princess Dance...at that point it was going to be a "Father-Daughter Dance." I mentioned to him that I hated the term Father-Daughter Dance, and of course told him why. There are plenty of little girls who get left out of these happy events, because either their father is not around or doesn't participate much in their kids lives. Sooooo...months later I hear they are planning a "Princess Ball" and all parents are invited...or uncles, or big brothers....how cool is that? Justin was listening....

Now...back to our regular programming. The Ball will begin at 7:00 p.m. and end at 9:00 p.m. The cost is $14.00 per parent and child. An additional parent or adult can attend for an additional $4.00. You can get your Princess a corsage and a flower for yourself for $5.00. Chick-Fil-A will be serving a complimentary dinner to the Princesses.

Remember this event will benefit our local youth. All proceeds benefit the Scholarship Fund.

Contact your school or The City of Edgewater Clerk at 424-2400 for tickets.
