Kids Fit Camp

I am very excited to work with my friends at Vision Fitness 24 and present a Kid's Fit Camp, otherwise known as Boot Camp! This will be a great way for children 8 - 14 years of age to learn about nutrition and fitness in a casual, fun environment. Certified Trainers Fred Godawa and Nick Weiss will lead the group in learning different ways to keep fit, eat right and make good decisions when it comes to health.

The program will run on four Wednesdays starting September 10th. It will run through October first and is from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. It is only $20.00 for the entire 4 weeks. $5.00 a week for your child to get information they will carry with them for a lifetime!

Call now to reserve your spot as space is limited. 386-506-9415. Check out their Facebook Page.

Sand Bar Cafe

I finally made it to the Sand Bar Cafe last week. I have heard so many good things and I know the owner Glen from one of his past lives so I was eager to try it. My daughter and I stopped by for lunch last Sunday.

I had a Black & Bleu Burger and a side of Coleslaw. My daugher had French Toast, Bacon and a side of fries...(what can I say she is a kid). The burger was huge, on a fresh, soft bun and was cooked perfectly. I love a good burger and this was awesome! The french toast was delicious as well. Large portions, great service, good prices and it was fast.

I am told the clam chowder and the biscuits and gravy are fantastic...next time.

The Sand Bar Cafe is open from 6:00 am - 3:00 pm every day, they are located at 1500 S Dixie Freeway or across from the old Beacon Theater. They are also now doing private parties in the evenings. If you haven't already checked them out do so, you won't be sorry.

Back to School

Yes, it is almost here...back to school. Yippee. Back to a routine, bedtime before 1:00 am (I have teenagers), half the grocery bill and peace in the house. Back to homework, sports practice, too much laundry and chaos.

Here is some helpful (I hope) information on going back to school in NSB/Edgewater.

Elementary Schools:

Chisolm Elementary
Coronado Elementary
Edgewater Public - meet the teacher is August 15th from 9:00 am - 10:15 a.m.
Indian River Elementary
Read Pattillo Elementary

New Smyrna Beach Middle School - 6th Grade Orientation is August 11th at 5:30 pm.
7th and 8th grade is 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. It is a drop in thing and all information is on the link to the school.

New Smyrna Beach High School  - scroll down on that page for orientation information, dates and times.

Here is the information on fees.
Here is the site to pay your fees in advance - my advice - pay your fees before you go to orientation and bring your receipt. Long lines if you don't.

It is also time to vote on extending the half cent sales tax. Be sure and turn over your primary ballot to vote for this it is on the back. Here is information on this from the school. Also an article from the News Journal that covers it pretty well. Be informed and support our kids.

I hope everyone has a happy and peaceful transition back to school!
