First Fridays Night Market

On the First Friday of every month November - April there is a new place to hang out. Hawk's Park in Edgewater is hosting a monthly gathering that will feature beer, wine, entertainment, and a variety of vendors. This is a great way to get together and meet new people in the area. Admission is Free. Check out their Facebook Page to see who the entertainment is each month.
 

Volusia County Fair

The Volusia County Fair starts this Thursday, November 1st and runs through November 11th. You can get a full schedule of events here.


 

DC-7 Grille

The DC-7 Grille is getting ready to open. They are hosting a Pancake Breakfast this Saturday, November 3rd. The event is from 8:00 am - 11:00 am. Reserve your spot here.

Black Cat Ball

The 6th Annual Black Cat Ball is this Wednesday, October 31st. The fun starts at 8:0 pm at the Om Bar & Chill Lounge on Flagler Ave. There is a costume contest, entertainment, prizes and the big raffle to support No Pet Left Behind.

Throw on your craziest costume and head on over to support a great cause and have some serious fun. This is adult Halloween Fun. Not for the kids!

Haunted Forest

This Saturday is the annual Haunted Forest put on by the City of Edgewater. This fun family event starts at 6pm at the YMCA on Turgot Ave. There will be Trunk or Treat for everyone and a Haunted Forest for the brave, older kids....please bring a non perishable food item for our local food pantries.

 

2012 Plein Air Paint Out

The Friends of The Canaveral National Seashore are hosting the 3rd Annual Paint Out. It is this week at various locations around town. The full schedule is available here. Celebrate the arts and our beautiful seashore with the 2012 Paint Out!

The East Coast Cruisers will be showing off their cars on Canal Street from 4:00 pn - 8:00 pm on Saturday.

The Go Fish Scavenger Hunt is also Saturday on Canal Street. It is from 10:00 am - 8:00 pm. Pick up your Go Fish Card at the Utilities Commission or any of the participating businesses. More info here.

Oyster Fest!!!

October is here...bringing all the great things we love in Florida...lower humidity, fewer people, open windows....and my favorite. OYSTERS....good oysters...

 Get the best oysters ever at one of my very favorite seafood restaurants on beach side. Off the Hook has super delicious gumbo, fish, and yes oysters, and lots of them!

October 18th - 20th is their very first Oyster Fest and it should be GREAT! They will have oyster eating contests, all kinds of different oyster recipes and a lot more. Off the Hook has terrific service, TV's with sports on everywhere...and awesome food.

Halloween & October Fun

Time for some Fall fun in southeast Volusia County...here's to hoping we actually get some Fall weather to go with it...

The Pumpkin Patch at Coronado United Methodist Church on Peninsula opened today. Their Fall Festival is Saturday, October 20th from 11am-4pm. This is great family fun...when my kids were in elementary school we never missed this festival.

The Edgewater Fall Festival is on October 27th from 6-9pm. It is held in the YMCA parking lot on Turgot Ave by Hawk's Park. It features Trunk or Treat, a Haunted Forest, costume contest, games and more. This is a big event and lots of fun!

October 12-21, The Little Theatre of New Smyrna Beach is performing the Haunting of Hill House.

Friday, October 26th is the annual History Mystery Tour. It is from 6:00pm-9:00pm at the New Smyrna Museum of History. This is located at 120 Sams Ave. The one hour hours are $6.00 per person or $15.00 for a family. This event gets rave reviews every year!

On Halloween at 4:00 pm on Canal Street is the Halloween Parade and Costume Contest. This is an early release day from local schools.

Also on Halloween the annual New Smyrnaween Creepy Crawl happens on Flagler Ave...this is adult fun from 9pm-2am.

Around Town Weekend Events

There is so much going on this weekend!

The NSBHS Drama Club is putting on a series of One Act Plays. Performances are Friday & Saturday night at 7:00 pm and Sunday at 2:00 pm. The Drama Club is trying to raise money. If they don't they will be eliminted thru budget cuts next year.

The undefeated High School Football Team takes on Mainland tonight at NSB Sports Complex.

 The Edgewater American Legion at 4497 on US 1 in Edgewater is hosting an Italian night tonight. The food starts at 5:30 pm. The cost is $7.00 and tonight it is Chicken Parmesan. It is open to the public.

 Family Dollar and the SPCA are hosting a low cost pet shot clinic on Saturday from 9am-11am. This is Cash Only.

 Kitty's Critters is hosting a Low Cost Pet shot clinic at their locationon Sunday from 9am-12noon. Cash or check is accepted and they would love a donation of pet food for the CCFAW.

 New Smyrna Lanes hosts bowling leagues for Kids every Satuday morning. Ages 8-18 are welcome. It is only 9.00 and a great way for kids to get out and make friends while having a super fun time at the bowling alley. New Smyrna Lanes has the best bowling alley food ever! Stop by the lanes for more information or call 428-4332.

 There is art and entertainment on the monthly Arts on Douglas Art walk. Check out the Canal Street website for all the details.

3rd Annual Food & Wine Pairing

The 3rd Annual Food & Wine Pairing is October 12th from 5pm-7pm. Stroll down Canal Street, enjoy the shops, try some tasty appetizers paired with some great wines. This event is free and is a great way to meet people, enjoy our beautiful fall weather (which I hear will be here next week) and have some great food and wine.
 

This Thursday, the Port Orange Family Days start in Port Orange. You can access the complete schedule of events here.  This is a great family event with a carnival, food trucks (on Thursday), free movies, all kinds of fun family events. If you click on the schedule link above there is a $5.00 coupon for Sunday, October 7th off a ride armband. Enjoy!
