You Can Belong!

BELNG

The BELONG New Smyrna Beach Women's Community Outreach Group is doing some exciting things.

I usually just post their monthly information but I felt like this month needed a special post. September has two very special speakers.

Rex Hoffman, Director of The Boy's and Girl's Club of Edgewater will be talking about how this organization impacts our local community. He is presenting Shylynn Watson the Youth of the Year in "Great Futures Start Here" award. Shylynn graduated from New Smyrna Beach High School and will be working for the Club while she attends college this year.

Also featured this month will be Kathy Blackman; she is the founder of Sophie Circle Pet Food Pantry. This is a charity that is near and dear to me. Sophie's Circle provides pet food to local families who otherwise may have to give up their pets. They operate completely on donations and grants from the community. I have spent many hours volunteering with Edgewater Animal Shelter, there are so many abandoned pets and people are not adopting as often as they used to. Sophie's Circle is helping keep those family pets OUT of the shelters and basically saving their lives. Kathy will talk about how she adopted Sophie and how the Pantry came to be.

The luncheon is September 13th at Venetian Bay Club House, 63 North Airport Dr. The cost is $13.00.

Call Pam 386-663-4593 no later than Thursday September 8th or email nsbbelong@gmail.com  for reservations.

BELONG will be collecting non perishable food items for local food pantries. (Maybe sneak in a bag of pet food for Sophie's if you are able)
