I received an email last night asking about our area, New Smyrna Beach has 13.2 miles of beaches, excellent backwater fishing in the Indian River Lagoon, the Marine Discovery Center located on the North Causeway offers tours of the estuary and surrounding river lagoon. It is a great way to see the area marine and wildlife, kids love it!
Bring your boat, the city offers dockage at the marina located near downtown. If you don't have your own boat, the area offers a number of offshore fishing adventures from several different marinas at the end of canal street.
If you are interested in history in the second oldest city in Florida check out the Eldora State House, the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse or visit the Turnbull or Sugarmill Ruins for some local history.
Take a ride on the water taxi between Ponce Inlet and New Smyrna Beach, with several daily roundtrips you can tour the lighthouse and museum and be back for dinner at one of our gorgeous oceanview or riverview restaurants.
If the arts is your thing, New Smyrna Beach was named one of "America's top small cities for the Arts", monthly sidewalk art shows, the Atlantic Center for the Arts, the Harris House and The Little Theatre offer many opportunities throughout the year to enjoy a variety of rich experiences.
Once you do all that head back to the beach, Volusia County offers some of the best beaches on the east coast, a laid back small town atmosphere and really nice people. Take a walk down Flagler Avenue and check out the gift shops and cafe's.
Accomodations in the area are excellent, there are small motels, private beachfront condos, resorts on the ocean, or bed and breakfast inn's sprinkled throughout the town.
This beautiful area is a great place to visit and an even better place to live!
