The Volusia County Public Libraries have teamed up with the Guardian ad Litem Program for a 'How to Help At-Risk Kids in your Community' forum this Saturday, 9/27, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at New Smyrna Beach Public Library, 1001 S. Dixie Freeway.
Several
organizations that help at-risk kids will have reps there explaining what they do and what
volunteers do, you can then visit their tables for more information. Organizations include:
Cudas Unhooked (homeless teen support group), Community Partnership for
Children (mentors for foster kids), Boys & Girls Clubs of Volusia/Flagler,
Mid-Florida Head Start, Babe James Youth Center/PAL, Take Stock in
Children/FUTURES, and the Guardian ad Litem Program (become a court-appointed
advocate for a foster kid).
There's a jazz concert at the library following @1 p.m.
so come early and learn how you can help kids in your community!
