The third annual Cinco de Mayo Celebration will be held on Flagler Avenue this Wednesday, May 5th. The celebration kicks off at 5pm and runs through 9pm with 10 venues featuring live Latin entertainment, dancing, iced cold cervezas and of course Mexican food. The event is free to the public.
Each year, communities throughout the United States and Mexico celebrate Cinco de Mayo in commemoration of the 1862 Battle of Puebla.  Contrary to popular belief Cinco De Mayo is not Mexico's Independence Day which is September 16th. It is, however, a Mexican national holiday called 'Battle of Puebla Day' or Cinco De Mayo.
