Edgewater Animal Shelter

As of 12/31/2015, Volusia Society for Aid to Animals' contract with the Edgewater Animal Shelter was terminated. In an effort to clear up any misconceptions on what is happening with the shelter here are the facts:
  1. VSAA was the monetary sponsor for the shelter, that relationship has ended. They are seeking a new non-profit to provide financial support, In the meantime, a private company has taken over
  2. The City of Edgewater is not taking back the shelter, it will still be privately managed
  3. It will remain at the current location 605 Mango Tree Drive, Edgewater, FL
  4. All the animals are still there and awaiting adoption
  5. The hours are the same, and they are planning on expanding the veterinary hours.
  6. They will continue to be a "low kill" shelter, they only euthanize animals in extreme circumstances
If you feel so inclined they could use some things. They are in desperate need of Clay and Scoopable Cat Litter. They always need cat and dog food, both dry and wet. They are open today until 4:00 pm.
If you have questions you an reach them at:

605 Mango Tree Drive
Edgewater, Fl 32141

Thank you and please adopt whenever possible!

Puppy & Dog Training Classes

The next dog (and puppy) training class at the Edgewater Animal Shelter is coming up this Saturday, May 30th. There is a puppy class from 10:00 am-11:00 am and a good manners class from 11:30 am-12:30 pm. The sessions run on Saturdays thru July 11th. Find all the information below.

So many puppies end up in shelters due to improper training or no training at all. Take the time to train your dog correctly and you will have a friend for life!

Edgewater Animal Shelter

There are exciting things happening at the Edgewater Animal Shelter.  On August 1, 2012, Dr. Ginger Bryant from Glencoe Veterinary Clinic will be taking over the Edgewater Animal Shelter.  This is good news for local animals and their owners!

The name for the brand new organization is the Volusia Society for Aid to Animals (VSAA) and the Edgewater Animal Shelter. They will offer low cost spay/neuter services along with low cost shots on a daily basis by appointment.  Going forward there are plans to operate regular scheduled veterinary hours as well.

This will not change the great service the Animal Control personnel and the Shelter staff provide the community. In fact it will enhance the programs they are able to offer, giving the Shelter much more versatility to compete with the bigger shelters and vet clinics. It also gives all local animal lovers another choice in caring for their pets.

The Shelter is located at 605 Mango Tree Drive in Edgewater. You can contact them at 424-2442

On June 30th the Shelter will be holding a low shot clinic from 9am until 12 noon. Check their Facebook Page for prices and products available.
