Happy Saturday
The weekly Farmer's Market is going on til 12:30 pm on Canal Street. Great local produce, the bread guy is there and the orchid lady.
Be careful when driving thru school zones, the police are patrolling the zone on Saxon near Coronado Elementary each afternoon both right before school gets out and after. Not only do you not want a ticket but you don't want to injure a child.
Have a great Saturday!

Happy Monday

Greeetings and Happy Monday to all.
The Battle of the Badges fishing tournament and event raised well over $100,000 this weekend. Great news for the youth it supports. Nice article about it here, if you read down on the comments you can get differing opinions on it, personally I think the whiners should be quiet and be glad someone is doing something to benefit our youth, they need all the help they can get.
The surf was high at the beach, windy and big waves, not all the lifeguard towers are manned this time of year so be sure to swim near a staffed tower.
The Gallery Walk and Jazz Fest is this week, stay tuned for more on that later in the week.

Chomp & Other Stuff

The Jazz Festival is this coming weekend on Flagler. This is good stuff, more on that later this week.
The weather is getting gorgeous and there are no people around, it is so nice.
Checked out the gas prices this week, the 7-11 beachside went from 3.69 last Friday to 3.95 over the weekend. IF you see a jump of over 25 cents, report it to the Attorney General, 1-800-no scam.
You can still find the lowest prices in your area here.

Great Beach Day

It is a gorgeous day for the beach, one more plug for the Farmer's Market on Canal Street, it runs from 7am-12noon each Saturday. I just got back, the prices are great and the produce is fantastic! Check it out.
A couple of local restaurant notes. The Upper Deck that is above Boston Fish House on South Atlantic is reported by a good source (my brother) to be excellent! Great menu, service and food.
On the other hand PJ's Sea Shack has been reported as so-so. It has a nice atmosphere, good service and mediocre food. It is owned by the same people who own the Garlic across the street which is excellent, so not sure what is up with PJ's.
Have a great weekend!

Weekend Events-Canal Street

Took this today at 15th Street, beautiful morning here in paradise.
This weekend think Canal Street.
The New Smyrna Farmer's Market is open from 7:00am-12:30pm. Get your fresh bread, local produce and more at this weekly event.
It is the first Saturday in August so the Gallery Walk takes place from 4:00pm-8:00pm. Check out the Clay Gallery, they offer entertainment, refreshments and fun in their beautiful gardens during this event.
Romesco's Wine Bar and Restaurant has some excellent food and a large wine selection.
If you are checking out Canal Street you have to hit the Fountain at Little Drug's. They feature an actual old fashioned ice cream counter. Take your kids and have a blast from the past.
I was really surprised when I really checked out Canal Street, there is a ton of shops, restaurants and things to do, so park your car in one of several parking lots around town, ride your bike or take a walk down Canal Street this weekend!
